Why Planning a Destination Wedding in Australia is a Must!

Destination Wedding in Australia

2020 brought with it many challenges and many industries were affected in some way or another due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Villa Botanica recently spoke with stunning jewellery retailer Blue Nile, who approached them about why couples should say ‘I Do’ to a destination wedding. So we got together and shared our own tips and tricks for couples the world over planning a destination wedding in Australia.

So, why should overseas couples get married in Australia?

Australian couples are not the only ones who opt for destination wedding packages in the land down under. People from abroad also consider Australia for its unique scenery, with some of the most popular destinations being Sydney, Gold Coast and the Whitsundays.

But what makes it so desirable to travel long hours and organise an Australia wedding?

A landscape unlike any other

There is no other country in the world where you can see such a vast and interesting combination of landscape types – beaches, cities, mountains, rain forests, desert and even snow, Australia is like lots of little countries rolled into one!  The gorgeous, rugged nature is perfectly complemented by stunning cities dotted throughout the whole country. The coastal regions are the most highly populated areas. Cities like Brisbane and the Gold Coast offer a diverse range of cultures, and then as you go further north you get to enjoy an altogether more laid back and tropical environment. If you’re keen to travel and want your wedding day to be unique and unforgettable, you can’t go wrong saying ‘I Do’ in Australia.

A variety of experiences

Stunning vineyards, incredible dive locations, breathtaking climbing experiences… The list of experiences that are on offer in Australia is simply endless! No matter what you are passionate about and how crazy your wedding plans are, you will find something that suits you. Whether you love nature and can’t wait to hold a koala or you are the shopaholic, city-loving couple that loves a bit of retail therapy –  Australia has it all to keep you thrilled at every step.

Home to the unbelievable pristine Whitehaven Beach and known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef – the Whitsunday region if you want a stunning coastal wedding. Places such as Airlie Beach offer unparalleled natural beauty that creates the perfect feeling for a destination wedding in Australia.

No need for wedding decor

Keep you suitcases light, with an extensive range of natural beauty and comprehensive vendors in country there’s little need for shipping décor and unnecessary extras. Australia has an exceptional combination of scenery, which works as the perfect backdrop for any kind of festive event. At the Whitsundays we are lucky enough to boast stunning greenery and beautiful oceans all together in one stunning wedding backdrop!

In Australia you will find the best venues, caterers, florists and stylists, for all budgets and tastes. Great climate

Even winter weddings are popular in Australia in those states and territories where the climate is warm. The Whitsunday region is a particularly popular spot for planning an Australia wedding because weather is stunning all year-round.

The perfect destination for seaside holidays, the Whitsundays are located at the equivalent tropical latitude of Honolulu in the northern hemisphere and Mauritius in the southern hemisphere. The average temperature is 27.4 degrees Celsius. While summers have the highest rainfall recorded, winter is preferred for being slightly cooler and having the lowest rainfall. Villa Botanica deliberately closes from January to April to avoid those rainy day weddings in the wet season. If you are not used to warm climates it is advisable to have a winter wedding. The summer months can be uncomfortable for some.

You’ll enjoy the cuisine

Embrace the culture and enjoy some different flavours! Australia offers lots of original dishes for all tastes. The most famous dishes are Chicken Parmigiana, Lamingtons, Meat Pies, Grilled Kangaroo, Barramundi, and the famous Vegemite on Toast. Australian seafood is undoubtedly some of the best in the world and local, fresh produce is in abundance.
